Mastery-Based Learning Community of Practice – Meeting 2
Mastery-Based Learning Community of Practice
Led by Keith Hjelmstad and Medha Dalal
Bi-weekly Tuesdays | 12pm – 1pm | Zoom
Mastery-based learning is traditionally viewed as a system wherein students move on to the next topic only upon demonstrating mastery of the previous one, often in an asynchronous format. However, in a university setting with fixed semesters, how can we leverage the benefits of mastery-based learning? In this community of practice, we will explore how to apply mastery-based assessment strategies in synchronous, traditional learning environments. We will look at ways to implement some of these strategies in undergraduate engineering courses and discuss the strengths and limitations of these strategies.
