Studio Resource:
Preparing Your Presentation

A strong studio recording begins with well-prepared presentation materials.

Slide Formatting

All slides should be created in a 4:3 aspect ratio rather than the widescreen 16:9 format. This ensures that two-thirds of the screen can display your content while one-third is reserved for your video image. A white background with no unnecessary graphics is strongly recommended, as it provides a clean, professional look and simplifies post-production editing. We recommend bullet points instead of full sentences, which keep your delivery more natural.

File Type

  • PowerPoint is the preferred format for presenting in the studio
  • Google Slides is possible but lacks annotation abilities when presenting
  • PDF is possible but is the least preferred format

Accessibility (ADA Compliance)

High contrast is essential for ADA compliance. Black text on a white background ensures readability for all students, including those with visual impairments. If do you use color, check that it is web-accessible (link to resource). Reinforce emphasis using visual cues (circling with the mouse or with the tablet pen) and audio cues (verbally pointing out the highlight). This multi-channel approach makes your content more inclusive.

Notes and Scripts

You are welcome to bring paper notes or your laptop into the studio to use as reference material. Place notes on the designated cropped side of the table, where they will not be visible on camera.

File Transfer Methods

Bring your presentation on a USB drive whenever possible. Cloud storage options like OneDrive or Google Drive are also supported. Both studios utilize PowerPoint as the preferred format when presenting.
