Instructional Innovation Coach
What I Do
I am an Instructional Coach for the Teaching & Learning HUB, collaborating and consulting with faculty to improve their teaching effectiveness to increase student academic achievement. Looking for new active learning strategies? Want an observation consultation session? Curious about evolving teaching structures? I am your person!
What I Did
For sixteen years prior, I taught middle school science at a multi-age project-based public charter school in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There I specialized in developing thematic and authentic curriculum for a classroom with mixed grade levels, and I also coached our FIRST robotics team!
What I Studied
My undergraduate degree is in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan (1994-1998). I received a second bachelor’s degree in General Science and a minor in Mathematics at Eastern Michigan University (2004-2005). I graduated from the ELMAC program at the University of Michigan with a Master’s in Elementary Education with certification in Integrated Science (6-8th) and Mathematics. (2005-2006).
What I Like
Hawai’i, food, golf, hiking, Michigan Wolverines athletics, my mini-Australian Shepherd “Blueberry”, traveling and passionately pursuing lifelong learning for myself and others.
Favorite FSE Value
Foster a community of learning and collaboration! Working in community means that we share the responsibility and intentionality to see students succeed at FSE. We are all learning together and collaborating to consistently improve our processes, each giving their insight to build towards the same goals. I enjoy engaging our faculty and sharing in improving their classroom/course experiences!
