SUMMARY:Fulton Schools of Engineering Education Seminars (SEEdS) - Survi
ving and Thriving in a Generative AI Future with Andrew Maynard
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Schools of Engineering Education Seminars (SEEdS) - S
urviving and Thriving in a Generative AI Future\n\nGuest Speaker: Andrew
  Maynard \n\nDate: October 18\, 2024 | 12:00 - 1:00pm MST\n\nLocation:
Zoom\n\nSeminar Description: Over the past two years generative AI has i
mpacted nearly every aspect of our lives — including how we think abou
t education\, how we teach\, and how our students learn. The promise of
AI-assisted learning represents a profound leap in education at scale. B
ut as is often the case\, the reality is somewhat more complex. In this
seminar\, some of the challenges and opportunities surrounding generativ
e AI in learning and the classroom will be explored\, as well as emergin
g trends in this field and what they might mean for teaching. As this is
such a rapidly emerging area\, substantial time will be devoted to disc
 ussion and sharing concerns\, opportunities\, practices\, and insights.\
n\nWatch this short video\, featuring Maynard\, on generative AI in educ
ation from the World Economic Forum.\n\n\n\nAndrew Maynard is a scientis
t\, author\, and Professor of Advanced Technology Transitions in the ASU
School for the Future of Innovation in Society. His work focuses on und

n Association for the Advancement of Science\, a member of the Canadian
Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Research Council\, has served on
a number of National Academies of Sciences committees\, and has testifi
