 y Active Learning Origin Story\n\nGuest Speaker: Dr. Roneisha Worthy\, K
 ennesaw State University\n\nIn this session\, university faculty are inv
 ited to embark on a transformative journey through the world of active l
 earning. Led by Dr. Ro Worthy\, an active learning advocate/avenger\, th
 is session will delve into her origin story of active learning and its p
 rofound impact on the student experience. This journey involves engaging
  discussions and interactive activities that highlight the benefits of i
 ntegrating active learning strategies into various academic disciplines.
  The session will address potential challenges and misconceptions surrou
 nding active learning\, providing strategies to overcome barriers and ma
 ximize its effectiveness.\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Ro Worthy currently serves as t
 he Assistant Chair for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Departmen
 t at KSU. In this role\, she works with course scheduling\, student/facu
 lty conflict management\, and accreditation efforts. In addition\, she c
 ontinues to teach in the classroom and perform research related to incre
 asing the representation of minorities in Engineering. Prior to joining 
 the University\, she was a Research Assistant at Vanderbilt University w
 orking as a member of a group funded by the Department of Energy. Her ma
 in research focus centered on the long-term evaluation of near-surface w
 aste disposal under climate change impacts at nuclear waste sites. Dr. W
 orthy has also worked as an environmental engineer/planner at Gresham\, 
 Smith\, and Partners in addition to General Motors Corporation. Recently
 \, she served as the National Professionals Chair for the National Socie
 ty of Black Engineers where she founded the organization's first Leaders

 ularly learn about and discuss topics related to Engineering Education. 
 The seminars\, formerly known as the Teaching Community of Practice (TCP
