SUMMARY:Fulton Schools of Engineering Education Seminars (SEEdS) - Learn
ing Engineering: Creating impact with inclusive learning systems\, with
 Scotty Craig
DESCRIPTION:Fulton Schools of Engineering Education Seminars (SEEdS) - L
earning Engineering: Creating impact with inclusive learning systems\n\n
Guest Speaker: Dr. Scotty Craig\, ASU\n\nZoom: Register here and join.\n
\nThis talk will introduce the audience to the learning engineering area
and the learning engineering process. We will end with a discussion of
our Learning Engineering Action Pods (LEAP) structure with examples from
our Generative AI LEAP\, and how faculty can get involved. The learning
engineering area is a multidisciplinary area that combines learning sci
ences\, design sciences\, and engineering processes to create effective
learning ecosystems that meet modern challenges within educational envir
onments. This discussion will be grounded in current learning engineerin
g work being conducted at ASU including work in the new Learning Enginee
ring Institute (LEI). The institute's goal is to empower faculty and sup
port staff to conduct research that advances inclusion-based research to
benefit all students by enhancing learning experiences and to enable pr
oactive intervention by using existing data. We do this by weaving four
major threads of data\, assessment\, technology\, and inclusion into our
solutions. LEI’s impact is based on enabling faculty\, staff\, and st
udent voices through interactions within LEAPs.\n\n\n\nDr. Scotty Craig
is an Associate Professor of Human Systems Engineering at Arizona State
University\, Director of Research and Evaluation for the ASU Learning En
gineering Institute\, and Director of the Arizona State University DoD A
dvanced Distributed Learning Initiative Partnership Laboratory. He has a
dual affiliation with the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and the
Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Dr. Craig is a learning engineer with
expertise in cognitive science\, design science\, and the science of lea
rning (specifically learning technology). He has contributed widely in t
he intersecting areas of Psychology\, education\, and technology with ov
er 150 contributions to the areas of multimedia and virtual learning env
ironments\, as well as the development and evaluation of learning techno
logy such as Intelligent Tutoring Systems within laboratory and applied
settings.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nMore about Fulton Schools of Engineering Edu
cation Seminars (SEEdS)\n\nLTH will continue to host monthly guest speak
er seminars for the community to regularly learn about and discuss topic
s related to Engineering Education. The seminars\, formerly known as the
Teaching Community of Practice (TCP)\, are open to anyone interested in
  the FSE community.\n\nFall 2023 Fridays | 12pm-1pm MST | via Zoom | Reg
