Screencast-O-Matic

What is Screencast-O-Matic?

Screencast-O-Matic is a screen capture recording tool that allows you to easily record your voice and on-screen content (Powerpoint slides, software tutorials, a student paper, etc) to create short recorded lectures, student feedback, or assignment instructions. The video is recorded to your local machine, which you can then be uploaded to Canvas for students to view.

Why should I use Screencast-O-Matic?

Screencast-O-Matic can be a quick and easy tool to use for just-in-time recordings for your class, since you do not need to download or install anything to your computer (if you’re using a Mac or a Windows PC, all that’s required is to download the screen recorder launcher). Screencast-o-matic can be used for student presentations, to further instruction on a particular misconception in class, to provide feedback to a whole class or just individual students, or to share instructions for a project or assignment.
